The materialsThere is no single "best" worktop — only the right one for how you cook, live and clean. Here is how we talk our clients through the choice, without the sales patter.
Engineered from roughly 90% natural quartz bound in resin, quartz is our most-requested surface — and for good reason. It is non-porous, so it never needs sealing, resists staining from wine and oil, and offers a consistency of colour that natural stone cannot. Ideal for busy family kitchens that want low maintenance without sacrificing a considered look.
Formed over millennia, granite is one of the hardest surfaces you can put in a kitchen — genuinely heat-tolerant and difficult to scratch. Every slab is unique, with movement and mineral flecks no factory can reproduce. Polished for depth of colour or honed for a softer, matte finish, it suits both traditional and contemporary rooms.
Nothing else has marble's quiet authority — the soft grey veining of Carrara, the bolder drama of Calacatta and Statuario. It is a softer stone that will patina with life, and we will always be straight with you about that: marble rewards those who love a lived-in surface. For pastry and baking, it is unmatched.
The best-kept secret in stone: quartzite has the flowing, marble-like veining people fall for, but the hardness of granite underneath. If you love the look of Calacatta yet cook like you mean it, quartzite is very often the answer. Slabs vary widely, so this is one to choose in person at the workshop.
Fired at extreme temperatures, porcelain is scratch-, stain- and UV-resistant, which makes it as happy outdoors as in. It excels in slim, contemporary profiles and full-height splashbacks, and comes in convincing stone, concrete and metal effects. A modernist's material.
Sintered stone is the most technically advanced surface we fabricate: a sophisticated blend of raw materials compressed and heat-treated into a virtually indestructible slab. Thermal-shock proof, stain proof and colour-stable, it is the surface for those who want a worktop that simply will not flinch — including waterfall islands and cladding.
